Advanced Computer Graphics

Overview

Following on from Graphics in the second year, this module covers modelling and image synthesis in great depth. This module also focusses a little more on the issues of rendering in real-time. The modelling portion covers the acquisition of models (through techniques such as laser scanning) and non-polygonal modelling techniques (such as procedural modelling and particle systems). The image synthesis portion covers topics such as global illumination, ray-tracing and volume rendering.

There are weekly lectures and there is also a lab, intended to take roughly ten hours, which involves the creation of a particle system.

Pre-Requisites

These are not necessarily the official pre-requisites, they are pages and modules considered to be helpful in understanding this module. For the official pre-requisites, see the COMP37111 Syllabus page.
