Downloading Tools

The different vendors have different methods for accessing downloads of tooling.

Cadtools NFS share

For use in the department of computer science, the cadtools5 network share is available containing many tools. Machines in the Kilburn building should be able to mount cadtools without issue, machines outside the building LAN may require whitelisting. If mounting fails, contact for additional support.

Add the following to your /etc/fstab

  cadmaster.cs.man.ac.uk:/data/cadtools5 /cadtools5 nfs4

Or otherwise mount

  cadmaster.cs.man.ac.uk:/data/cadtools5

Troubleshooting Europractice tools

For tools relating to Computer science, contact the Europractice representative.

Or contact Europractice directly at: microelectronicscentre@stfc.ac.uk

In general, support will come from the Europractice rep or Europractice. Many of the vendors will reject support requests not sent through these channels.

The below sections outline the tools currently available.

Licence Server and Access

Currently, access to the licence server is available on the campus wired network and via Eduroam. Please contact the Europractice rep for any additional help.

In general, many of the vendor tools are not available/allowed to be accessed off site. We are therefore forced to restrict access in general for most tool licences to operator on site only.

The licence servers name is cadtools.cs.man.ac.uk and will be required for checking out licences. For example, the Siemens licence server acts from port 1718 of cadtools, and required the following environment variables to be set:

 export SALT_LICENSE_SERVER=1718@cadtools.cs.man.ac.uk

Licence Server ports
Vendor port Example
Synopsys 27011 ...
Siemens 1708 ...
Xilinx/AMD 2100 ...
